ALTAI™ Backs the Blue: 5 Easy Ways to Thank A Cop

This Saturday, September 21st, will be Thank A Police Officer Day. It’s a special day to take extra time to show your appreciation to the men and women in Blue who risk it all to serve and protect. While we like to encourage random acts of kindness for law enforcement any day, any time, here are five ways you can brighten a police officer’s day as a show of respect for their bravery.

Sweet Treats

Tasty rewards are always welcome and can be a relief for any officer, especially on a long shift. Proud Police Wife has some sweet and savory recipes to give you some ideas; check out the Blue Line Oreo Truffle Balls!

Pay For A Meal

The pleasant surprise of having your meal or coffee bought and already paid for would make any police officer’s day. Whether you’re at the drive thru or pay for a meal anonymously, this is a simple way to surprise an officer with a ‘thanks.’

Donations for Organizations

Being a part of law enforcement is more than a job, it also affects the lives of those around them. From PTSD support to spousal communities, you can make a contribution to your favorite law enforcement related organizations.

Cards, Gift Baskets, Care Packages

If you have kids, Thank A Police Officer Day is a perfect opportunity for them to also show their appreciation. Make up some Thank You cards and hand deliver them to officers; court houses or local departments are great places to find them. Care packages are always appreciated and they can be tailored to suit a law enforcement officer’s wants.

ALTAI™ Hero Spotlight: Checking in with Donut Boy

Today we catch up with our favorite young hero, Tyler Carach of I Donut Need A Reason To Thank A Cop, also famously known as the Donut Boy.

Years back, Tyler kicked off his charitable contributions by simply asking his mom if he could buy some donuts for law enforcement officers he spotted at their local store. This humble beginning was just the start to Tyler’s inspiring journey to reach his goal of thanking every cop in America, one donut at a time.

So far, Tyler and his family have reached over 40 states and have given away 80,000 donuts, and that’s just an estimate! The appreciation and gratitude overflows and Tyler’s Facebook photos certainly show it!

As we all know, a little goes a long way when it comes to showing our local law enforcement our gratitude. It’s why we support Tyler’s efforts through our 2 For The Blue program; learn more how it works here.

ALTAI™ Hero Spotlight Update: Tyler The Donut Boy’s Reverse Birthday Party

Last week, our pint-sized hero, Tyler Carach, aka The Donut Boy, celebrated his birthday in a unique, heart-warming way: a reverse birthday.

What does a reverse birthday celebration look like? Well, instead of Tyler celebrating his own birthday, his birthday festivities revolved around thanking police officers!

Tyler’s Reverse Birthday Celebration was hosted by Pensacola Police Department where Tyler was able to thank surrounding area police officers, along side none other than the Harlem Globe Trotters. The Reverse Birthday Celebration had a wonderful turn out and Tyler couldn’t be happier with how this act of gratitude ended up.

Tyler began his journey two years ago to thank every law enforcement officer in America with a donut, one donut at a time. Well over 70,000 donuts later, Tyler has continued to go above and beyond for law enforcement officers, fire fighters, and other important first responders.

ALTAI™ Hero Spotlight Update: Tyler the Donut Boy

It’s hard to believe that only two years ago, we met and partnered with this amazing 10 year old, Tyler Carach, a Florida boy who is on an important mission: thanking every cop and first responder in America, one donut at a time.

Since then, Tyler’s organization, I Donut Need A Reason To Thank A Cop, has given away over 70,000 donuts to law enforcement officers in 39 states! Here are a few snapshots of his latest journey to Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana! Follow Tyler on Facebook for up-to-date info on his next adventure thanking cops; Tyler may be visiting your local police department sooner than you think!

ALTAI™ Hero Update: Tyler the Donut Boy On the East Coast

Our nine-year old hero, Tyler Carach, aka, The Donut Boy, continues to persist on his goal of thanking every cop in America with a donut. Beginning his journey last with a simple act of thanking four officers at a rest stop with donuts, Tyler and his family have come a long way in just about a year.

A couple weeks ago, Tyler met up with the one and only, Staten Island Police Department! Again, the lovely folks at Dunkin’ Donuts donated 1,000 donuts in thanking the NYPD serving the Staten Island area. Another big surprise that should make this entire journey pretty memorable: Tyler got to throw the first pitch at Staten Island’s Yankee’s game.  Watch out MLB; this kid’s got heart.

Later on in Maryland, the Carach family continued their journey to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, Edgewood precinct. Tyler’s act of gratitude was especially meaningful since this department experienced two deputies killed in the line of duty in the winter of 2016, who made the ultimate sacrifice to serve and protect.

After many more stops and many, many more donuts, this week, Tyler and his family arrived safely at home after a long and grueling road trip. Back in Florida for now, but there are certainly more trips for the future.
